Letters & Visits

Each month, we come together as a community to write and send letters to individuals currently in detention. Our goal is to build relationships with them, helping them feel supported and reminding them that they are not alone during this challenging time. We recognize that human connection is vital for maintaining mental health.

Casa Mariposa

Casa Mariposa is a space dedicated to solidarity, support, and healing for LGBTQIA+ migrants and refugees affected by the immigration-prison industrial complex. Located in Tucson, AZ, Casa Mariposa is a communal housing project organized by Mariposas Sin Fronteras. Upon leaving detention, LGBTQIA+ migrants and refugees are provided not only with transitional housing but also with a home and community where they can begin a new life and thrive. While at Casa Mariposa compes are given access to essential resources needed for survival and success, including health care, mental health support, housing, food, education, economic opportunities, and community love.

Commissary

Each month, we allocate a specific amount of commissary funds to individuals currently detained. These funds are used for food, letter-writing supplies, and phone calls. We believe that providing commissary helps compes stay connected with their loved ones and new community members.

Community Education & Outreach

We collaborate closely with community partners to offer resources for individuals seeking assistance in navigating the complex and often challenging landscape of migrant and immigrant justice. Mariposas Sin Fronteras is in the process of gradually restructuring our programs and overall framework. Our goal is to continue developing our community education and outreach initiatives.
